Golf Clubs

Golf which has always been considered a royal sport is quite popular all around the world. But this game is not that easy to play as it might perhaps appear to be.

To play this sport, a golf player needs plenty of golf equipments amongst which the club is one of the most important equipment. These clubs are basically used in this sport to hit the ball. Each club is composed of a shaft with a grip often termed lance technically and a club-head. These clubs are available in plenty of designs, falling into three general categories. First one being ‘woods’, which is used for long-distance fairway shots, next being ‘irons’, being the most versatile class, which can be used for playing a variety of shots, and lastly the third one being ‘putters’, used mainly on the green to roll the ball into the cup and end the game.

There are few technical terms related to these clubs that one must know to be able to use them flamboyantly. Loft is the angle between the club’s face and the vertical plane, which is am important variation in different clubs.

It is the loft that helps a golf ball to leave the tee on an ascending trajectory, not the angle of swing. In most of the cases all swings contact the ball with a horizontal motion, impact of the club compresses the ball, while grooves on the clubface give the ball backspin. The combined effect of the compression and backspin create a lift in the ball.
