Nick Faldo has revealed he won’t be competing in this years Open at the Royal Birkdale club. It is the first time he has not competed since 1975. Nick, now 50, says he wants to put all of his concentration into the Ryder Cup.
Nick’s impressive record has seen him win the Open on 3 seperate occasions. His last major championship win was back in 1996 though, when he won the Masters. He is still a huge figure in the game and everyone looks up to him in the Ryder Cup.
Well you’ll certainly be missed this year Nick!

Nick Faldo & Seve Ballesteros have named the players they will use as wildcards for the Seve trophy in Ireland.
Nick Faldo has chosen Simon Dyson & Marc Warren from England and Scotland respectively. Seve Ballesteros has chosen Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano & Thomas Bjorn from Spain and Denmark respectively.
Britain & Ireland are leading the competition 3-1, so it will make for some exciting viewing at the Heritage Golf & Spa resort in the gorgeous town of Killenard.
Both captains are confident about their teams abilities, so it will all boil down to nerves and confidence on the day.
